Nine o'clock stop
Set up with a sand wedge and swing back until the lead arm is parallel to the ground (9 o'clock); have someone or a mirror show where the club is. Put an alignment stick, held level by a tripod, bag or chair, just behind that point. Swing back to 9 and stop before the club touches the stick, then through to a finish of the same length, at the tempo you want to hit with. 10 swings, then 5 balls without the stick to see if the length feels the same. The stick gives feedback; it should not stop the club hard.
