Whoosh drill

Drawn setup
Illustration

Turn any club upside down and grip it near the hosel; the grip does not have to be perfect. Normal setup, no ball. Swing and listen for the whoosh: it should be loudest where the ball would be, or a touch after. If you hear it early in the downswing, you let the speed go too soon. Check that the wrists hinge in the backswing so the club points up and behind your head; the arms do not need to go far back. Use it in the speed part of a session, never in the same block as a test.
