Privacy policy
Exactly what is stored about you, why, where it is and how you get rid of it.
This page is not finished. The data controller is not yet determined. It must be filled in before the app is used by anyone other than the person who built it.
Short version
Your data is yours. No other user can see it - that is not a policy but something the database enforces row by row.
The swing videos never leave the phone. They are kept in the device's own storage and are not uploaded anywhere.
The data is not sold, not shared with advertisers and not used to train any AI model without your explicit approval.
Health data - pain, injuries, height and weight - is optional. The app works without it.
Controller
Data controller: CONTROLLER NOT YET DETERMINED.
Questions about your data: contact@playermethod.se.
What is stored
The categories below are the whole list. The table is coupled to what the database actually contains and is checked by the test suite on every change.
Account
- What:
- Email address and sign-in times.
- Why:
- So that you can sign in and your data stays yours alone.
- Legal basis:
- Necessary to provide the service (contract).
Player profile
- What:
- Name, home club, handicap, goals, dominant hand, chosen tee, language, theme, units and profile picture.
- Why:
- So that the app calculates correctly and looks the way you want it to.
- Legal basis:
- Necessary to provide the service (contract).
Health dataSpecial category
- What:
- Height, weight and injury limitations in your profile, and a pain rating from 0 to 10 for shoulder, knee, thumb, back and hip that you can fill in at each practice session.
- Why:
- So that practice suggestions take into account what your body can take, and so that you can see whether pain follows your practice. The question is "how did it feel today", not "what is wrong with you" - which is why the pain belongs to the session and not to your profile.
- Legal basis:
- Explicit consent. The app works without this data - it is optional, and you can delete it at any time.
Play and practice
- What:
- Rounds, holes, shots, putts, practice sessions, completed drills, your own notes and reflections, messages from the coach about your practice, equipment, and how much time you have to practise, where you can practise and what aids you have.
- Why:
- This is the service itself: seeing what you actually do and what it leads to.
- Legal basis:
- Necessary to provide the service (contract).
Data about your coach
- What:
- The name of a coach you have had a lesson with, what they said, and which drills you were given.
- Why:
- So that a lesson can be followed up between sessions instead of being forgotten on the way home.
- Legal basis:
- Necessary to provide the service. This is data about a person other than you: it is shown only to you, it is not shared, and you can write "my coach" instead of a name.
Audio recordings from practice
- What:
- Voice notes you record yourself during a session.
- Why:
- So that you can speak a reflection instead of typing it.
- Legal basis:
- Consent. Recording only happens when you start it, and you can delete it.
Swing videos
- What:
- Video clips you record of your own swing.
- Why:
- So that you can watch your swing frame by frame.
- Legal basis:
- The clips are stored on your own phone and are never uploaded to any server. They never leave the device unless you export them yourself.
Friends
- What:
- Your friend code, who you are friends with, requests and blocks, and what you have chosen to let friends see.
- Why:
- So that you and a friend can see each other's latest rounds and priority for the week - only what each of you has chosen to show.
- Legal basis:
- Necessary to provide the service (contract). By default you share nothing. A friend sees date, course, number of holes, score, score to par and handicap for your ten latest rounds if you have chosen that, and your priority for the week if you have chosen that. Nothing else, and never health data.
Location and weather
- What:
- The phone's approximate position, rounded to about one kilometre, when you turn on weather during a round. Temperature, wind and the time of the forecast are saved with the round.
- Why:
- To fetch the weather forecast where you play, so that a round in strong wind can be told apart from a round in calm.
- Legal basis:
- Necessary to provide the feature (contract). Weather is off until you turn it on, and the phone asks first. The position is sent to the weather service (SMHI in the Nordics, Open-Meteo in the rest of the world) and is not saved.
Technical operating data
- What:
- Error reports and event logs when something goes wrong in the app, and usage events: that the app was opened, that a swing was saved or analysed, and that a permission (for example camera or location) was denied. Each event is a name and a time, with no text or position.
- Why:
- So that errors can be found and fixed, and to see which parts of the app are actually used.
- Legal basis:
- Legitimate interest in the service working. The logs contain no health data.
About health data in particular
Pain ratings, injury limitations, height and weight are a special category of personal data under Article 9 of the General Data Protection Regulation. Such data may only be processed with your explicit consent.
That is why it is optional. If you do not provide it, everything else in the app works exactly as usual - you just get no practice suggestions that take it into account.
It is used only to adapt your own practice and to show you your own patterns. It is not shared, and it is not part of any analysis concerning other users.
Where the data is
The service runs with the help of the following providers. Each processes data on our behalf and not for its own purposes.
- Supabase — Database, sign-in and file storage. EU.
- Vercel — Hosting of the web app. Global network; pages are delivered from the nearest node.
- STRATO — Outgoing email, for example sign-in links. EU (Germany).
- GitHub — Source code and nightly backups of the database. Stored in a private repository.
- SMHI — Weather forecast during the round in the Nordics. Receives a position rounded to about one kilometre. Sweden.
- Open-Meteo — Weather forecast during the round outside the Nordics. Receives a position rounded to about one kilometre. Switzerland.
How long
Your data is kept as long as you have an account. If you delete the account, it is deleted.
You delete the account yourself: in the app under Settings, or on the web at playermethod.se/delete-account (requires signing in with the account to be deleted). Same route, same confirmation and the same offer to export first.
Backups of the database are taken every night and kept in a private repository. A deletion reaches the backups when the older copies are pruned, which happens within 90 days.
Error logs are kept for a shorter time than your own data and contain no health data.
Your rights
You have the right to know what is stored about you, to have it corrected, to have it deleted, and to get it in a format you can take with you. The app has an export function built in for the last one.
If you have given consent - to health data or audio recordings - you can withdraw it at any time. It does not affect what has already been done, but the processing stops.
If you are unhappy with how your data is handled, you have the right to complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY), or to the data protection authority where you live.
Cookies and tracking
The app uses no cookies for advertising or tracking and has no third-party analytics.
What is stored on the device is what the app needs to work: your sign-in, your chosen theme and the swing videos you have recorded. None of it leaves the device.
Children
The service is not designed for children under 13. If you are under 18, a parent or guardian should know that you use it, especially if you fill in health data.
Changes
This policy was last updated 2026-10-13.
If anything material changes - a new category of data, a new provider - the date is updated and the change is shown in the history of the source code.
